Welcome to the Kewa Pueblo Tribe’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Website.

On this site you can search for information about sex offenders who are registered within our jurisdiction with the Kewa Pueblo Tribe’s SORNA (Sex Offender Registration & Notification Act) Program. Please be aware that this website is for public information only and includes information about offenses for which the convicted sex offender is required to register under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act (Pub.L. 109-248).

The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act was passed by Congress on July 26, 2006. The act was named for Adam Walsh, an American boy who was abducted from a Florida Mall and later found murdered. Title I of the Adam Walsh Act is known as the "Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act" (SORNA). SORNA was passed to register sex offenders, allow law enforcement to track sex offenders and allow the public to take appropriate safety precautions.

SORNA requires that states, territories and tribes enact certain sex offender registration and monitoring legislation. The Kewa Pueblo Tribe passed the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Ordinance (SORNO) on June 27, 2011 and adopted a revised Ordinance on November 24, 2014. SORNO created 3 tiers of sex offenders and those sex offenders are classified as either Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3, depending on the severity of the sex offense committed. The length and frequency of registration is determined by the tier.

Sex offenders who are residing, working, or attending school within the jurisdiction of Kewa Pueblo who have been convicted of a sex offense in a tribal, state, federal, juvenile, military or foreign Court must register with the Tribe’s SORNA Program. Failure to register and update information is a felony under the law. Sex offenders required to register under SORNA who knowingly fail to register or update a registration as required are subject to the federal criminal penalty punishable up to 10 years of imprisonment under 18 U.S.C §2250.

The Adam Walsh Act also creates a national sex offender registry and instructs each state and territory to apply identical criteria for posting offender data on the Internet (i.e., offender's name, address, date of birth, place of employment, photograph, etc.). This Website is made available through funds from the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) for the Tribe and Territory Sex Offender Registry System (TTSORS).
